The Southland School
District consists of 75 square miles and is located in
southern Dunklin County, Missouri. The towns of Cardwell and Arbyrd are included in the Southland School District.
Cardwell-- Cardwell is located three miles from the St.
Francis River which forms the Arkansas-Missouri state line on the
western edge of the Bootheel of Missouri. The town of
Cardwell has the distinction of having the
lowest altitude above sea level (250 ft.) in the state of Missouri. Cardwell has a population of
approximately 750.
Arbyrd--Arbyrd is
located approximately three and one half miles northeast of Cardwell with a
population of approximately 700 people. The closest large metropolitan area to Arbyrd and Cardwell is Memphis, Tennessee
which is located 80 miles to the southeast.
The Southland School
System--The Southland
School system is composed
of grades Kindergarten through twelfth and is located in Cardwell.
The Cardwell-Arbyrd area is a major farming area,
with cotton and watermelons being the major products harvested.

We have single attendance centers (no other elementary with the same grade span);therefore,
